SCHOOLS CENTRALISATION.
OPPOSITION FROM COUNTY COUNCIL. The matter of schools centralisation I was mentioned at Monday's meeting of | the Waipa County Councid. | Cr Macky brought up the question I and referred to the proposal to make a trial with Te Awamutu as headquarj ters. He thought the proposal a danI gerous one, as the county roads in the ! vicinity were not yet in a favourable \ state to carry the extra traffic, which | he understood would be by means of I motor lorries. The chairman agreed. ! Cr Livingstone remarked that the i smaller children "would have to be | chained into the lorries" to prevent I accidents. Cr Alexander said some of the J school districts were not favourable I to the centralisation scheme. At Cr Macky's instance a resolution i was carried unanimously protesting against the proposal, and this resolution will be conveyed to the Board of Education.
