FOOTBALLERS SUSPENDED.
THE TE AROHA INCIDENT. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) TE AROHA, Wednesday. An inquiry Avas held last evening at the Piako Rugby Union concerning the behaviour of tAvo junior players in the Terriers-Manawaru match played last Saturday. After hearing lengthy evidence Thomas Farmer, of Manawaru, Avas suspended for tAvo years, and Lipsey. of the Terriers, for 12 months. The evidence of the official referee and the offenders Avent to shoAv that Lipsey throughout the game aggravated the Manawaru player by “nagging” at him, and that ultimately the latter struck Lipsey. Regarding the referee’s decision in stopping the game and aAvarding the honours to the Terriers, who were at the time leading by 3 points to 0, the union decided to write to headquarters for a ruling on the question.
