WRECK OF A LAUNCH.

OCCUPANTS’ LUCKY ESCAPE. (Bv Telegraph. —Press Association.) WHITIANGA, Monday. The launch, Jersey Lily, owned by Mr Alexander White, of Whitianga, broke adrift from her moorings while waiting for the rise of the tide to tow a raft of timber to the Owera mine, in Whangapoua harbour, and was driven ashore on Matarangi beach, where she became a total wreck. Two occupants of the launch, Messrs White and Suhor, succeeded in getting ashore on some rocks, where they remained till daybreak. Though the launch was smashed to pieces, it is hoped that her engine may be saved. The vessel was not insured.
