WORK IN THE BOROUGH.

THE FOREMAN’S REPORT. At last night’s meeting of the Te Awamutu Borough Council the Foreman reported as follows on works carried out for the month of August: Since last meeting the following works have been attended to:—The main street has been regularly cleaned and cesspits emptied. Cinders from the Dried Milk Factory have been placed on the following footpaths: Mutu Street, Alexandra Street. Mahoe Street, Tawhiao Street, Teasdale Street, College Street and Ceorge Street. The saleyards have been cleaned and fences and gates repaired. The Council yard has been cleaned up and repairs done to the pump on the tar spraying machine. Manure has been carted for the Beautifying Society and the Domain Board. Bridgeman’s Road has been completed. Private drains have been tested for the following. Mr McCarter, two shops in Alexandra Street; Mr Gifford, two shops in Alexandra Street; Mr E. J. Taylor, Alexandra Street. I have visited the bead works and found everything working satisfactorily. I am still waiting for the metal to arrive so that I can get on with some repairs. The cost of labour on the works that the men have been engaged upon as requested by Cr. Peate at the last meeting is as follows: Streets, £lO 8s 6c!; saleyards, £2 3s 4d; Beautifying Society, 15s; Domain, £1 Is Sd; Bridgeman’s Road, 15s lOd; cleaning yard, £1 Is Sd. Total, £l6 6s.
