MATTERS MUNICIPAL.
TE AWAMUTU BOROUGH COUNCIL,
The fortnightly meeting of the Te Awamutu Borough Council was held last evening, when there were present: His Worship the -Mayor (Mr L. G. Armstrong) and Crs S. Clark,, P. W. Peate, C. G. Downes, 0. Bygrave, W. Jeffery, J. Oliphant. 'G. Spinley, and W. J. North.
General Business.
Messrs Collins and Downes wrote forwarding for approval sub-division of land by the trustees of the Anglican Church. —The clerk reported that the application was in order, and the consent' of the Council was -accordingly given. Mr G. S. Cooney’s tender of £3O 14s 6d for plumbing and drainage work at the old library buildings was accepted. The clerk was empowered to supply the Birkenhead and Morrinsville Borough Councils with information concerning the construction of Alexandra Street and the material used therein. Cr Clark brought up the state of the road just over the rail-way line, leading to Pak.ura iStret. -Repairs were urgently needed. That day the road was practically impas.ssable.-nr Bygrave also supported the need for improvements.—Cr 'Downes: All the more reason for the loan—The overseer said the road needed metal. —Cr Clark moved that the foreman be instructed to -attend to the matter—Cr -Bygrave seconded 'the motion, which was -carried.
it. was decided to take necessary steps to deal with storm water in Teas-daie,-Street. Cr Peate reported that in regard to the proposed tree-planting in Young ■Street that, as sewerage, etc., would have to go down, it was desirable to defer the -matter until next year.— This was agreed to.
