THE CHEESE MARKET.
STEADY, BUT NO FORWARD
BUYING.
Messrs J; Nathan and Company report receipt of the following cablegram from London: —
New Zealand coloured cheese is quoted at 83s to 86s; white, 87s to 90s. The market is steady, but there is no forward buying. There is no speculative demand, but it is thought prices will be maintained. Total visible stocks are smaller than last year, but are ample for present requirements. The weather is cold, but there is a good consumptive demand, and it is thought that prices are likely to advance after Christmas.
Cheese graded for the twelve months ending 31st July amounted to 1;275,796 cwt, an increase of 14/21 per cent over last year. Canadian, on spot, is quoted at B'6s to 88s for coloured, and 88s to 90s for white, <c.i.f. Forward shipments are quoted at 83s, c.i.f.
