OHAUPO NEWS.
(District Representative.) There was a good yarding of stock at the Ohaupo Bull Sale held on Tuesday last, when the auctioneers representing the respective firms of the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. and Messrs. Dalgety and Co. Ltd., were kept busy most of the day. Good animals realised satisfactory prices, a good number of the animals yarded being Shorthorns.
During the past week, when favourable weather has prevailed, most of the members of the Ohaupo tennis club .have taken advantage of the opportunities afforded to play on the local 'courts and some enjoyable games have been played. There is every hope tliat before long an announcement will be made with regard to the acquisition of a suitable site for the future 'courts. The officials of the club are doing their best to promote the success of the club in every way and new members will be welcomed at any time. Mr J. Tong, of Ohaupo, who until recently has been obliged to use crutches, is- able to dispense with these, and is now much improved in health.
With reference to the announcement of an engagement which appeared in these columns on Saturday, we are asked by the parties concerned to contradict the same.
With a view to increasing the funds for the purchasing of the Town Hall site, it has been decided tp call a public meeting on Friday the 1 29th inst., in accordance with a suggestion made at the last meeting of the Ohaupo Town Board. The nature of the effort to increase the funds in question has not yet been decided upon,, but a gift auction sale was suggested. It is hoped that the co-operation of the bodies of the district will be forthcoming so that their services can be utilised.
