INCREASES SANCTIONED. * IN BOTH ISLANDS. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. It is announced by tne Hon. E. P. Lee (president of the Board of Trade) that the Board had given careful consideration to a statement made by a deputation of bakers to the Minister a week ago with reference. to the price of bread. A full inquiry had been made by the Board respecting the accuracy of the position as presented by the bakers and as to what would be a fair and reasonable increase in the price of bread. In consequence of the increased cost of production, as detailed by the bakers, Board had decided to sanction an increase in the price of the two-lb loaf as follows: — North Island: For cash over counter, present price, s|d; new price, 6d. Delivered, present price, 6sd; new price, 6|d. South Island: For cash over coun- _ ter. present price, s|d; new price, s|d. Delivered, present price, new price, 6d. This means that the North Island counter sales will “be increased a id, and all sales in the South Island by id.
