TRAFFIC CASE AT HAMILTON.

A resident of thi§ district appeared before the Hamilton Police Court on Monday, when the traffic inspector (J. De Silva (Mr Swarbrick) brought a prosecution for alleged reckless driving of a motor lorry against Bert Reid, of Kihikihi (Mr J. K. Luxfcrd). The evidence of the inspector showed that defendant, in backing his lorry from in front of a shop, dragged a motor cycle over and also hit the mudguard of a car. The Inspector placed the speed when the lorry was backing over 40 yards at the estimate of 12 miles an hour. The defence was a denial of the allegations, but the Magistrate held that negligence had been proved, convicted defendant and ordered him to pay costs totalling £4 15/.
