THE JOCKEY’S DISPUTE.

ASSOCIATION NOT POPULAR.

MANY BREAK AWAY.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

Sir George Clifford president of the New Zealand Racing Conference, has received a petition signed by twentytwo leading jockeys stating that they are determined to break away from the Jockeys’ Association. They ask for an interview in order to place before him some points on which they wish to have amendments to the rules of racing and alterations in some customs obtaining on some of the racecourses in New Zealand.

Sir George Clifford has replied stating that he will be pleased to meet the jockeys, and any requests they may make will be placed fairly before the Racing Conference. The president has also received a letter from a prominent jockey containing the names of forty-three jockeys who have resigned from the Association. These also ask Sir George Clifford to receive a deputation.
