The annual meeting of the local football club was held recently. There were over twenty members present. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —-Patron, Captain Hope-Johnstone; president, Mr H. F. Saunders ; vice-presidents Messrs H. Stace, J. Plouston, F.' Kurth, Hockley, Innes-Jones, A. Brett, F. Ware; committee, H. Roigard, J. Laurenson, C. Kurth, W. Fisher, C. Roigard, Hildreth, and Eustage; secretary and treasurer, C. M. Rope ; selection committee and delegates to Parawera Rugby Union, W. E. Roigard, R. Anderson, C. M. Rope; captain, C. M. Rope. A meeting was held on Thursday, May Bth, for the purpose of electing a social committee for the ensuing year. There was a good attendance, and the following were elected a committee Mrs J. Patterson, Misses I. V. Frost, E. Jemmett, -A. Mitchell, E. Roigard, Messrs C. Rope, C. Roigard, C. Mathers, R. Hildreth, W. Fisher. The first football match of the season was played in Mr Knight’s paddock last Saturday, the local team playing a practice match against a team from Wairaka, which resulted in a win for the local team by 20 to 3. The district is looking prosperous. Several of the settlers have put substantial additions to their residences.
