PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr E. R. Egglestone was a weekend visitor to Waipawa. Mr and Mrs C. G. E. Barker returned to Waipawa from Wellington on Saturday morning. Lord and Lady Galway will pay a farewell visit to Northern Hawke’s Bay on December 10th. Before leaving Waipawa for Trentham to join the Army Stores Department staff, Mi- N. J. Wiseman was presented with a pair of military hair brushes and shaving set by the staff of Limbrick Bros, and with a cheque from the firm. At a meeting of the Parliamentary ■members of the Labor Party the Hon. P. Fraser was confirmed in the position of Prime Minister. It is stated that the vote was unanimous. The constitution of the Cabinet is to be reviewed before the end of the present year. Mr E. P. Meaehen, Government member for Mai’lborough, has been discharged in the meantime from the military forces owing to an ankle injury which he suffered while in camp at Trentham some months ago. Mr Meaehen, who served in the last war, enlisted not long after the outbreak of the present war, and had attained rank of quartermaster-sergeant when the injury prevented him from going on with his training. A recent medical examination established that Mr Meaehen would be unfit for service for another three months at least, and the likelihood is that he will be permanently unable to return to military duties.
