The Education Department has put into operation throughout the Dominion a scheme whereby all relieving work in the schools this year will be rationed amongst unemployed teachers. Under this scheme no probation-

ary assistants will be appointed, and all probationary assistant positions will be treated as relieving positions, and will he filled by relieving teachers accordingly. These appointments will be for one term only, when a fresh hatch of teachers will be appointed. For the vacancy on the Waipawa District High School staff Miss F. G. L. Waite has been appointed. D. Morpeth, presiding, the following resolution was unanimously passed:—‘ ‘ That whereas one of the main objects of the New Zealand Political Association, viz., the Coalition of the antiSocialistio parties in New Zealand politics, has been achieved, the committee resolves that the activities of the association be suspended for a period of twelve months, or such shorter period as may he determined

by a meeting to he convened by the president.” The committee also expressed a hope that as a result of the combined efforts of the Coalition Government the Dominion would soon emerge from the existing economic conditions. The “Trocadero” has had a great run during the holiday season. Visitors from all over the Dominion have made Napier a stopping place. They’ve just come along to see what progress has been made in restoring

the town since the earthquake. Most of these folk pay a visit or two to the “Trocadero.” Its fame has spread all over the country as the “place for good eats,” and few visitors ever pass without a call. The new location of the “Trocadero” is now on the ground floor of the Foresters’ Hall, close to the Community Banks. A call will b« appreciated.*
