PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr A. Rowell, junr., of Napier, is at present on a visit to Waipawa. Mr and Mrs D. T. Kelly returned to Waipawa yesterday after a short visit to Palmerston North. Mr D. R. F. Campbell, of Paeroa, has been selected to contest the Rotorua seat at the next election in the interests of the Country Party. Mr A. J. Mackay, manager of the Waipawa branch of the Bank of Australasia, is at present on his annual leave. The position is being filled temporarily by Mr Searle, of Wellington. Captain Hugo, Inspector of Fire Brigades, retires on superannuation on March 31st, and will be succeeded by Mr Girling Butcher, who will combine the office with that of Inspector of Explosives. Constable O’Halloran, who was on duty almost continuously during the critical period following the earthquake, has been granted a few days' leave to recuperate. Constable Phillips of Takapau, is acting as relieving officer.
