APPOINTMENT OF A HIGH COMMISSIONER. WELLINGTON, This day. Brief reference to the appointment of the next High Commissioner was made in the House of Representatives on Saturday. The Leader of the Opposition (Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates) said that the Acting-Leader of the House might have stated in tile dying stages of the session who the next High Commissioner would he. Mr Coates’ statement was received with smiles on the Government benches. “Why, aren’t you able to get away just yet?” interjected Mr W. E. Parry (Labor, Auckland Centra]). Mr Coates (smiling): No. hut 1 would like to know who - is to be appointed.
