THIRD TEST MATCH. CHANGES IN AUSTRALIAN TEAM. (Australian and N.Z. Press Assn.) SYDNEY, December 27. Unexpectedly, the Australian team was announced to-night. It is as follows:—Ryder, Woodfull, Kippax, Oldfield, Bradman, Hendry, Y. Richardson, Grimmett, Blackie, Andrews, A’Beckett, Oxenham. The foregoing includes a twelfth man. who has not been selected. The wicket is reported to be perfect. OTAGO v. WELLINGTON. GOOD SCORING. The Plunket Shield match between Wellington and Otago was played at Wellington, on a good wicket. Batting first Otago compiled 398 A. W. AlSoo 10.1, Blunt 88, Cavanagh 65. Welling ten leplied with 351 I.amason 89, Dempster 66, McGirr 56. In their second innings Otago had lost three wickets for 234 when stumps were drawn yesterday. TO-DAY’S PLAY. BLUNT GETS HIS CENTURY. WELLINGTON'S TASK. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This day. The Plunket Shield match was continued in fine weather. Monk was caught off McGirr's fourth hall. Runs came freely. At 318 Holland was caught off Foley’s second delivery. Cavanagh skied one before scoring and at noon the score was 322 for ■six wickets. Blunt reached his century just after noon, having been in 205 minutes. The wickets then fell quickly and Otago were all out at 12.30 p.m., leavng Wellington 399 to get to win. Dempster and Rotherham opened Wellington’s second innings, and at the luncheon adjournment the score was eight for no wickets. AUCKLAND v. CANTERBURY. TEN WICKETS WIN. This match, played at Christchurch, resulted in a ten wickets win for Auckland. The northerners compiled 330 in their first strike—Gillespie 75, Allcott 69. Canterbury were all dismissed for 153, and following on added 254. Requiring 78 to win Auckland obtained the number without the loss of a wicket. HAWKE CUP. HAWKE’S BAY’S CHALLENGE. A challenge match for the Hawke Cup between Manawatu and Hawke’s Bay is being played at Palmerston North. The holders batted first and compiled 221—"Me Vi car 95. Hawke’s Bay were all disposed of for 195. Shepherd (not out) making 85 of the number and Stephenson 60. TO-DAY’S PLAY. MANAWATU GOING STRONG. (Per Press Association). PALMERSTON N., This day. The Hawke Cup match was continued in dull weather. Manawatu resumed their second innings, having lost one wicket for 30 runs. The hatting was very quiet before good bowling. Pacey and Wild added 15 runs in 35 minutes, being unbeaten. With the score at 67 Wild lost his wicket, being caught off Evans. In the next over Pacev was given out stumped, a doubtful decision. He appealed to be well set. The century appeared after an hour and a-half. Gallichan and McViear brightened up the scoring, which later slackened again. At luncheon the score was three for 135 —Evans 25, Pacey 31, McVicar (not out) 26, Gallichan (not out) 42.
