Fire at Palmerston North.

[Per Press Association] Palmerston N., Yesterday. A fire to-night destroyed a large two-storey building accupied by Hodder and Tolley, grain merchants ; also about £I6OO worth of seed-cleaning apparatus aDd a large quantity of seed and grain. The premises of Keeling and Munday (printers), Allman (blacksmith), and Osgood and Hancock were also damaged. Keeling and Mundy’s stock was much damaged.

Insurances—Hodder and Tolley, Commercial Union, £2OO on the machinery; Guardian, £IOO on the stock, £SOO on machinery; Royal, £2OO on the stock, £SOO on machinery; New Zealand, £6OO on the building ; total £I6OO. The estimated loss is between £2OOO and £3OOO. Osgood and Hancock, New Zealand, £4OO on the stock ; Imperial, £3OO on stock ; Queensland, United Liverpool London and Globe offices ; estimated loss £9OO. Allman, £IOO in the Royal; estimated loss £25.
