Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting.

Judging by the splendid acceptances received, the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club should have a record meeting to-morrow and on Thursday. Those who attend should participate in excellent sport, for the oompetitors in the various events are much above the average and include many from outside the distriot. The going is said to be in first olass oondition and fast times should be recorded. Convenient train arrangements are provided for country residents. Delegates from Wimbleton, Herbertville and Porangahnu of the recentlyformed Porangahau-East Ccast Rugby Sub-union, met at Porangahau on Satur- | day evening, when rules and conditions * were drawn up to be submitted to the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union for approval. Mr George Hunter’s offer of a trophy for competition was accepted with thanks, also Mr A. P. Bishop’s and Kingi’s cups. It was decided to take part in the proposed Sub-union Shield, provided it was only a straight out go, the union being willing to travel to Dannevirke, Waipawa and Hastings, and play three games in one week. The following fixtures were drawn : May 20th—Wimbledon v. Herbertville, at Wimbledon.

May 27th—Porangahau v. Wimbedon, at Porangahau. June 3rd—Porangahau v. Herbertville, at Porangahau.
