A Man Runs Amuck.

(Per Press Association) Wellington, Yesterday. A man named William George Ent wistle, who got into a very exoited state yesterday over a sewing machine for which he was sning his wife, went home, procured a revolver, and ran amnok umoDg the household. He hod been on bad terms with his wife for some time, and was evidently broodiog over bis fancied wrongs. The family were staying with Mr William Morris, at Newtown, and Entwistle, who had met Morris outside, and by whom he was urged to become reconciled with his wife, made a dash for the house, fired, and hit his wife on the left elbow. He fired three shots at his daughter Louie, all of whioh missed He then turned and fired at Mr Morris as he entered. The bullet grazed the skin of his neck, and went throngh his coat and shirt. Entwistle re loaded the revolver, and again missed Morris Another shot was heard, which led to the belief that he had committed suicide. When the police entered, however, he gave himself up readily, merely expressing re gret for his bad shooting. It was fonnd tbat he had smished np a quantity of crockery and furniture, including the machine which was the immediate caase of all the trouble. He also set fire to some bedding Mrs Sutwistle was not Berionsly hurt Eotwistlo is an optician by trade, and came from Sydney three years ago. An application for a main teaance order waa to be heard against him to day. He has been married, according to bis own statement, a good many times Mrs Entwistle was warned tbat her hua band intended to shoot her, but appar ently Bhe took little notice. Entwistle was remanded. He gave tbe police a full account of his life, which took three boars to tell, and was of the most extra ordinary description. Ho gave bis age as 77, though he does not look it, and says he served in tbe Sikh war 50 years ago under Lord Gough
