(Received 9.57 a.m.) SYDNEY, This day The delay in fixing the dates of the Federal Convention election, which has arisen owing to Western Australia desiring them to be deferred until after her general election, is causing much comment and foreboding. Mr G. H. Reid, Premier of New Sooth Wales, Mr George 'Turner, Premier of Victoria, and Sir John Forrest, Premier of Western Australia, meet on the 15th instant, when probably some definite arrangements will be made. The shipowners are unable, owing to tbe want of certain information, to formu late a reply to the engineers’ case. The conference wafl resumed to day, and it is believed on good grooudß that a permanent settlement of tbe difficulty will be arrived at.
