Assessment Court.
THIS DAY. (Before Mr A. Turnbull, Assessor.) The following objections to the valuation roll were beard : E. T. Woodcock.— Part block 46, five houses, shops, and land assessed at the ratable value of £l5B. Mr E H. Lee, who appeared for Mr Woodcock, stated that he wished to withdraw the objection lodged, as his client had been able to obtain tenants for his shops since exception had been taken to the valuation. George Abrahams.—Assessed at £SO, asked for a reduction to £4o.—Reduced to £45. John Britten.—Part block 46, houses, shops, and 13 acres of land, assessed at £l4O. Mr E. H. Lee, who appeared for Mr Britten stated that the property was over valued. Since last valuation the property had not increased in value and he contended that tbe valuer should have to prove that the increase in the valuation was justified. He called Andrew Gilmour, who deposed that he was a surveyor and knew of nothing that would enhance tbe value of Mr Britten’s pruerty during the last year.—Valuat on le uced t • £lO3. Morris Flynn —Asked for a redaction from £92. —Reduced to ££4.
