Satisfactory Report On Trinity Presbyterian Church
The five-yearly Presbyterian visitation to the Cambridge Presbyterian Parish was carried out recently by the Rev H. S. Scott, of Te Awamutu, and the Rev A. G. Gardiner, of Paterangi. In the report they made to the Waikato. Presbytery, it was shown that finances at Trinity Church were in a very healthy state. Last year the revenue was over £2,500, and the credit balance in the general account was £llß3. The amount given to the mission and othe" schemes of the church, at £332, was more than the allocation.
The report added that the minister, the Rev Colin MacKenzie, travelled from 8,000 to 10,000 miles a year. He took five scripture classes each weak, and altogether had 2,150 people under his pastoral care. Cambridge was one of the largest parishes in the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand where the minister had no assistance.
The finding of the commission prais ed the work being done by Mr MacKenzie, after which several ministers spoke highly of his good qualities. Special mention was made of the recent improvements to the interior of the church, and of the generous missions giving of the Junior Boys’ Bible Class.
