Over 2 inches of Rain

Predicted rain commenced to fall in Cambridge yesterday morning and continued steadily until almost daylight today. Fortunately Saturday remained fine for sport, although there were several very light showers during the afternoon. The rainfall recordings for the past 24 hours up to 9 a.m. this morning are: Roto-o-rangi, 2.36 inches; Fencourt, 2.15 inches; Karapiro Hydro, 2.34 inches. The heaviest rain fell last night. At Roto-o-rangi the fall was .62in. up to 5 p.m. and 1.74 in. from then till morning. A strong wind, which blew on Saturday night, brought down many leaves from the trees, and yesterday the streets and open spaces were covered with a thick mantle of brown and yellow.
