Cambridge Classic Club’s Successful Opening

The recently-formed Cambridge Classic Club held a successful opening in the Methodist Hall last week. The president, Miss E. T. Brown, welcomed all present, and reminded them of the objects of the club,, which were to encourage young music students in public performance. The following programme was enjoyed:— Piano duet, Miss M. Webb and Mr G. Wallace, “Wedding Day” (Greig); tenor solo, Mr T. Collins, “Spirit Flower” (Campbell Tipton) and “Palaquin Bearers” (Martin Shaw);mezzo soprano solbs, Mrs M. Fairweather, “Night and Dreams” (Schubert) and “I Chide Thee Not” (Schumann); piano solo, Mrs R. Trulove “Alt-\yein” (Godowsky) and “Waltz in A Flat” (Levitsky); soprano solos, Miss J, Black, “Where the Bee Sucks” (Arne) and “Have You Seen But a Whyte Lily” (Anon). Vocal duet, Messrs T. Collins and E. Webb, “Venetian Song” (Tosti); contralto solo, Mrs M. Wildhurst, “Silver” (Armstrong Gibbs) and “Crimson Petal” (Roger Quilter);' baritone solo, Mr E. Webb, “Three Fine Ships” (Thos. Dunhill), “Sweet One and Twenty” (Handel); piano solo, Miss M. Webb, “Impromptu in A Flat” (Schubert), “Golliwogs’ Cakewalk” (Debussy); baritone solos, Mr R. Easter, “Wandering” and “Silent Love” (Hugo Wolfe).
