At this meeting the Council’s proposal to raise a Housing Loan of , £II,OOO, and a Water, Streets and Sewerage Loan of £36,960, will be fully explained. No meeting vote will be taken on ; these proposals, as all borough ratepayers will be given the opportunity of expressing their approval or other- ' wise, at a poll to be taken after con- ' sent has been received from the Local - Government Loans Board. Another matter for consideration by the meeting will be the application ’ of the Cambridge Fire Board for per- > mission to er*ct two residences, and a • fire station on the corner site of • Kirkwood and Lake streets. Members of the Council hold the opinion that such land should be ac- ’ quired by the borough, and held as a ’ site for future municipal building or civic purposes. ’ The meeting will be asked to give t a direction on this question.
