CHAMBER OF COMMERCE GOOD SUPPORT PROMISES ; A meeting of the provisional com- « mittee of the Cambridge Chamber ! of Commerce was held in the Secre- « tary's (Mr R. S. Entwistle) office on < Thursday morning last when re- ; ports were received of the progress • of the canvass for members. ' The secretary reported that there ; were well approaching 60 members . signed up already and members of ; the Committee also reported a num.- • ber of business-people and service ! representatives who had promised ; to join the Chamber. It was decided to contact all ' those business-people who had not • as yet been approached by Thurs- '. day next, after which a general ; meeting of the members will be - held, and a permanent executive ; elected. Karapiro Representation. It was the opinion of the provisional committee that there should be a representative connection between the community at the Karapiro Hydro Works and the business and general community of Cainbridge. With this aim in view invitations are to be extended to the Resident Engineer to have representation on the Chamber'; also to the official representative of the workers. In our editorial column the objects of the Chamber are again emphasised.
