NEW LICENCES
CONSUMPTION OF PETROL BUSY TIME AT POST OFFICE The Cambridge Oil Fuel Controller,' Mr H. Hawke, has experienced a busy time during the past fortnight reviewing the petrol licences which are on issue in Cambridge. With a view to further regulating the consumption of petrol in accordance with the supply available, the Government has found it necessary to take steps to review the majority of the general licences in existence.
In the Cambridge district there are about 2000 licences operating, and so far two-thirds of them havb been, adjusted at the Post ,Offictj, No bertzine could be secured from coalers this hiOnth on licence until,the' issue had been reviewed.
All ordinary fuel licences have been revoked, and motor spirit is not to be isued until the O.F. 6. card has been' handed : in and dealt with by the authorities. The licence holders have been required to call at the Post Office, and complete a form which will indicate the licence number, the monthly gallonage of spirit at present authorised, the make of the vehicle or other purpose for' Which the fuel is used, the 1941-42 registration number of the vehicle, the horse-power, miles per gallon, and the purpose or which the spirit is used in the vehicles. On presentation of the, form at the oil fuel counter, together with the oil fuel licence, the necessary amendments will be made and the card, together with the licence, will be returned to the licensee, who should deliver the Off 7 . 6 card to the vendor nominated.
