Macky, a member of the Patriotic Committee, in wishing them good luck and a safe return. Cambridge was particularly proud of them, in that they were living up to the traditions established in the district by their grandparents. It was realised that the boys were about to .join the great army which had been formed to protect the British nation against aggression, said Mr Macky. They were going to fight for right against wrong, and i because of that everyone would be behind them. Mr Macky wished them success and a safe return with their job well done. Mr B. Newcombe added good wishes on behalf of the Returned Soldiers' Association, of which he is president in Cambridge. He mentioned that the association had helped men on service in many little ways, and was always at the disposal of parents or soldiers. He asked the men to to their parents as often as possible and then on - their return to join the association.
Wallets from the Patriotic Committee were presented to the guests by Mrs Mervyn Wells. They suitably returned tanks.
