THE CALDWELL CUP RESULTS OF FIRST ROUND The Caldwell Cup competition, the best of two out of three medal rounds, was commenced by members of the Cambridge Golf Club on Saturday. There were no outstanding scores, although three players returned cards below their handicaps. The leaders, H. Jonasson and S. Baker, have been reduced two strokes by the handicapper, Mr E. A. MATCH WITH TE AWAMUTU WIN FOR CAMBRIDGE A team of golfers from Te Awamutu visited Cambridge during the week-end. As the teams selected for such a match are not necessarily the best players in the club, the result is not of great importance, but Cambridge won by 11 games to 7, one being all square. The visitors were welcomed by the club captain, Mr V. C. Hollis and the vice-president, Mr R. Ireland. Thanks for a very enjoyable day were returned by Mr S. S. Preston, a vice-president of the Te Awamutu Club. . Dinner was arranged for the visitors at the Central Hotel and the ladies of the club provided afternoon tea. The visitors and local members accorded the ladies a warm vote of appreciation for their part in making the day enjoyable. Scrambles were held in conjunction with the inter-club match. The morning bogey was won by G. Wood (Te Awamutu), 2 down, and C. H. White (Cambridge) all square. In the afternoon a Stableford was held, the winners being G. Wood (Te Awamutu) and E. A. Morrice (Cambridge).
