RACING AT ROTORUA
SECOND DAY RESULTS SUCCESS OF HUTANA A feature of the second day’s rac - ing of the Rotorua Racing Club this week was the number of outsiders to score. Large dividends were paid by Lady Acushla, Hutana, Kakarere, Trilliarch and May Song. Haile Boy repeated his first day form by winning the Tarawera Highweight from Erination and Advance Acre. Norse Lady was well fancied, but her saddle slipped in the running.^ The grey mare, Lady Acushla, won the Flying Stakes with a fast run on the oiitside. The Kaipaki owned and trained Loch Acre was second, and Glenbevan third. Mr J. Armstrong’s Hutana scored well in the Clarke Memorial Cup, after being well back in the early stages. Kilcash’s effort for second was encouraging and the third horse, Pleuron, shaped well at his first start over a distance. Cornish made aiqends for his defeat on Saturday, by winning the President’s Handicap from Kena and The Dozer.< Lady Montana was a fair fourth. Merry Vaals was an odds-on favourite for the Rennie Stakes and he won easily from Fairfield and Valerian, with Surpai fourth. Kakarere went her best race to win the Electric (Handicap by a head from Town Section, with Pas-
ture a similar distance away Third. The outsider of Ahe; field* Trilliarch, gained a decisive win in the open sprint, finishing two lengths in front of Penzance, with Sir Robin third and Corato fourth. The meeting concluded with another surprise, when May Song won the Kia Ora Handicap by a length and a half from Grand City, who was slow away, and Brazilian third.
