CAMBRIDGE B V. FRANKTON RESULTS OF FIRST DAY Rain interfered with cricket during the week-end and all competition matches were postponed at Hamilton. Cambridge B commenced its match against Frankton at the Square in spite of the intermittent showers, and was in a sound position at the end of the day's play. Frankton commenced well, having 100 runs on for 4 wickets, Litchwark being the only bowler to trouble the early batsmen, but the tail failed badly and, due to a good bowling performance by R. Brunskill, the side were all out for 109. Brunskill took 5 wickets for two runs. At stumps Cambridge had lost one wicket for 63, R. Hughes and M. WAITEMATA CLUB'S VISIT AN EXCITING MATCH The Waitemata Cricket Club played a Cambridge eleven at the Square during the week-end, and an exciting game resulted in a win for Camrbidge by 36 run/s. The visiting team included the wellknown North Shore senior players, L. Curtayne, D. Edmonds and W. McDevitt. A feature of. the game was a forceful century by Curtayne, who was the only batsman to show confidence against the Cambridge attack. The most successful bowler was Bright, who took six wickets for 41 runs. Cambridge started its innings well, Hughes scoring a bright 33. While playing solidly for 24, Conder saw four more batsmen dismissed, and with eight down for 100 Cambridge's chances seemed small. Muller and Crawshaw then became associated in a partnership that added fifty runs, and by excellent batting against a strong attack, carried the local team to victory amidst great excitement. Edmonds, the ex-Auckland representative, gave a fine exhibition of wicket-keeping. He was very much impressed by Muller, the local wic-ket-keeper, who was also in top form. Mr D. Ellerington, the Waitemata captain, expressed the wish to have Cambridge play a return match at Auckland, and said that his team had thoroughly enjoyed the visit. A vote of thanks was passed to the ladies for refreshments provided. Details of the scores: Waitemata, 134 (Curtayne 105). Bright six for 41. Cambridge, 170 (Hughes 33, Conder 24, Crawshaw 32, Muller 28 not out).
