PIONEER FAMILIES

BOYCE, Charles W. Born in Faversham, Kent, in 1851. He came to New Zealand in 1874 in the "Zealandia," settling in Cambridge in 1875. He was a member of the first Cambridge Town Board, a member of the Cambridge School Committee for 18 years, !afOunda- x tion member and secretary of the Cambridge Band, and was at the time of his death, on. 12th October, 1937, at the age of 86, one of the oldest past masters of the Masonic Lodge in. the district. Mr Boyce married Miss Sarah Jane Beaumont, a daughter of Mr and. Mrs William Beaumont of Auckland, in 1876, their family being six sons and five daughters, including C. W. Boyce, A. B. Boyce and T. H. Boyce of Cambridge, A. G. Boycej of Auckland, E. N. Boyce, Melbourne, Chris Boyce (killed during the Great War), Mrs H. W. Giles and Mrs F. L. Tucker, of Cambridge, Mrs J. Kearsey, Melbourne, Mrs B. Richardson, Invercargill, and Mrs J. C. Hewson, Auckland. iMrs Boyce died in 1934.
