THE CLUB COMPETITIONS WEATHER DELAYS PLAY The Cambridge Bowling Club's competitions are advancing steadily after delays caused by the rainy weather. Easter falls early this year, and as it is desirable to conclude the competitions before that date, it is hoped that there will be no further delays. With most competitions reaching the third and fourth rounds, play is becoming keener, and practically every match has its gallery of spectators. Many of the games have been decided on the last head. Championship Singles Eleven players.,, in the championship singles, and in the best position is N. McFarlane, who has two lives and a bye in the fourth round. The other two-lifers are Dr Tod and T. Dix, who should stage a fine exhibition when they meet. There is still good talent among the one-lifers, but the prospects of those above the line would appear the brightest. Recent results were: Third Round: Two-lifers: N. McFarlane beat H. Wood; H. C. Tod beat J. A. Wallace; T. Dix beat D. J. Lundon. One-lifers: C. B. McNatty beat A. Pearce; D. Low beat W. Laurent; W. J. White beat S. Lewis; E. Budd beat V. G. Boulton; W. Cuthbert beat C. W. Hooker. Draw for Fourth Round: N. McFarlane a bye; Tod v. Dix; McNatty v. Low; White v. Budd; Cuthbert v. Wood; Wallace v. Lundon. McCathie Memorial The third round of the McCathie Memorial handicap singles competition, has not been completed. Among the two-lifers, E. Budd is in a handy position as a result of beating Dr Tod. This young player from Rotorua should reach the final. C, W. iHooker, the club president, shares the top honours with Budd, as a result of a bye in the third round. H. Speight and A. Pearce, the only other two-lifers, have not played their match. Among the one-lifers F. L. Tucker beat F. M. Oliver; C. B. McNatty beat F. Grimes; I. Peebles beat W. Sands; W. R. Edwards beat V. G. Boulton. Going a stage further, F. L. Tucker beat C. B. McNatty in the fourth round, after one of the most exciting games in the competition. Wright's Trophy Further results in the Wright's Trophy competition for those who have not previously won a trophy are: Third Round: Two-lifers: P. And-rew,-a bye; W. R. Laurent beat J. A. Wallace; E. Budd beat D. Low. One-lifers: E. McDonnell beat F. Grimes; W. Sands beat G. D. Gee; C. W. Hooker beat E. Martyn; I. Peebles beat A. Hulme. Fourth Round: In the fourth round Budd beat Andrew; Hooker beat Peebles; Low beat Wallace. W. Sands has yet to play E. McDonnell. President's Pairs The third round of the President's pairs competition has yet to be completed. R. McDonnell and C. B. McNatty had the bye among the two-lifers, and J. Keaney and N. McFarlane beat J. Cameron and A. Hulme. H. Webber and S. Lewis have still to play P. Graham and Edwin James. One-lifers in the third round to play have been. A. Gell and F. M. Oliver, who beat E. H. Leigh and H. E. Amyes; I. Peebles and W. Sands beat E. Budd and T. Dix; H. Giles and J. A. Wallace beat G. D. Gee and A. C. WaWs. In the fourth round, Gell and Oliver beat Peebles and Sands. Games still to be played by onelifers in the third round are: E. Benjamin and V. G. Boulton v. H. Speight and W. R. Laurent; J. Conder, jun. and J. Conder, sen. v. D. M. Bourke and H. Wood; R. Johnson and P. Andrew v. J. Clemow and W. J. Halliday. Veterans' Handicap A new competition is being competed for this year in the form of handicap singles for veterans.
