NELSON CONTEST CONCLUDES
VALUABLE EXPERIENCE GAINED' The Cambridge Municipal Band had the distinction of travelling the farthest to atferid dfae New Zealand" championship contest at Nelson last week. The trip across Cook Strait 'on thie way down" was vCry bhfortunate for Cambridge, only six bandsmen not being sick. This affected theiii in' the Hymn Test next evening, when they appeared last in a class of 19 bands, late on a cold night. When interviewed yesterday, the bandmaster, Mr M. McMahon, said he was quite satisfied with the performances given by I 'the band, although the bass section was naturally weaker than had been antici-'
