ANZAC DAY

LOCAL OBSERVANCE.

UNITED SERVICE AND PARADE. The arrangements for the cornmentoration of Anzac Day on Tuesday,-April 25, in Cambridge, -will be on similar lines to those of previous' years. There will be a parade of all ranks, including veterans of tho South African War, Territorials, Band, Scouts and Girl Guides. The parade will leave the Drill Hall at 1 p.m., and a memorial service will be held at the Town Hall at. 1.30. The service will be a united one and tho order of service will be: National Anthem; Prayer, the Rev. G. G. Bell; Hymn, "0 God, Our Help in Ages Past"; Lesson, Capt. Hay; Hymn,'"'o, Valiant Hearts"; Address; the Rev. X Richards; Hymn, "Soldiers of Christ Arise"; concluding prayer, the Rev. A. C. McLean. The congregation will remain standing until after' the departure of the Mayor and those bearing wreaths to the Cenotaph, where "The Last Post" will be sounded. On Anzac evening, by special permission, the annual benefit screening will be presented at the ToAvn Hall. The proceeds will, as usual, bo devoted to -the relief of distress among ex-servicc-mcn. picture, "The Dreyfus Case," has been secured, and as well as seeing the latest British talking picture with this historic subject for. its theme, those who attend will be helping the dependents of those men who, IS years ajjo, did not fail to do their duty 1o their fellow citizens. EX-SERVICEMEN'S AFFAIRS. CAMBRIDGE COMMITTEE MEETS. GOOD WORK DURING LAST TEN YEARS. A meeting of the committee of the Cambridge Ex-Servicemen's Association was held in tho office of the secretary (Mr*T. H. Hampshire), yesterday afternoon, when the president, Mr D. J. Lundon, presided over a full attendance. It was decided to recommend to the annual meeting, which will bo held following the parade on Anzac Day, that the annual reunion be held on the same lines as last year's function. Tho secretary reported J; hat arrangements for tho. Anzac Day ceremony had been completed. Lieut. A. J. Swayno had been appointed permanent adjutant " ±ot the parade, and the president O.C. parade./ Witl/ regard to tho special benefit screening of "The Dreyfus Case," Mr A. G. Boyce has kindly agreed to open box plans at The Triangle for the benefit of ex-servicemen in country districts. Men living some distance from Cambridge will thus be able to make sure of their scats in advance. An interesting feature of the meeting vas a report presented .by tho secretary on tho operations of .the association during the ten years since its resuscitation. During that timo 23 exservicemen and their dependents have received pensions in the Cambridge district, as well as seven soldiers' widows. In addition 15 ex-soldiers have received freo treatment either as in- or outpatients at various hospitals and have been practically restored to health.
