SECOND ANNUAL MEETING. .. FINANCES IN SOUND POSITIONTho second animal meeting of the Cambridge Fire Board was held on Friday afternoon when there were present Messrs C. H. Priestley (chairman), G. E. Brialey, A. K. Donald, V. G. Bouiton. and M. Wells. The secretary, Mr F. T. Kay, and superintendent, Mr Cr. Drew, were also present. - The superintendent's .report showed that during tho year 'there had been only three calls and of these only one was of a serious nature that of a stationer's ship in Victoria Street. The second was a small fire at a boardinghouso while the third was a gorse fire. The insurances on buildings "and contents where fires occurred amounted to * £2350 and losses by fire £787. Tho brigade's strength is as follows :;>- Superintendent, deputy-superintendent, foreman and eleven firemen, two of tho latter sleeping on the premises. The water pressure is good, being about 1101 b in tho main business portion of the town to about 501 b outside. • Tho financial statement revealed that' the year's expenditure had amounted to £SBO 19/8, which was £ls 4/4 below the estimated expenditure. Receipts had totalled £468 3/S, and a credit balance resulted of £l6 2/1. The position was considered very satisfactory. Mr C. H. Priestley was reappointed chairman for tho ensuing year. It was decided to take out a floating insurance policy on firemen's equipment for £SO. Estimates for year ending March 31, . 1934, amounting to £590 1/6 were approved.
