"YOUNG GODS OF THE NEW MYTHOLOGY"
ANZACr-EASTER, (Written 25th April, 1924). O brown earth, cover them tenderly, who lie Beneath an alien sky. There slim gold galleys pass Upon a sea of glass, Pass and repass.by Green Gallipoli. O brown earth cov*er the young gods tenderly! Keep faith with buried laughter, buried tears, Tho dust of dreaming years. Somo distant paradise Is aureoled within their eyes, Their song is flung from some far mountain peak, Their lips are still, and* in their stillness —speak. The. young gods of the now mythology, Asleep beside the 5ea..... Our Lenten lilies break In crimson fire, and shake The dreams of Anzac to the waiting sky— Over the graves of Anzac, let the flaming petals lie. —Bettie.Riddell. Wellington.
