GIRL-GUIDE CORNERS
Dear Guides, Brownies and Rangers, Wasn't it encouraging to learn that you were given third place for the Auckland Province in the recent Kohn Cup examinations, Guides? I think it was just thrilling and I am sure you will all feel that the extra amount of time expended just before the exam, was well worth the giving. Bravo! Guides, and perhaps you shall one day bo privileged to hold the coveted cup, and then won't that be a great day for you ? A Pantomime Moral. Whether you are.the principal boy or the hind leg of a donkey put your whole being into the part for which you arc cast. Don't hang around the wings; step out on the.stage as soon as you are given your cue. If you don't, there will be an awkward stage pause, for no one else can speak your piece; everyone else has his own job, and he must not neglect it to do yours. Motto. Anytime is the right time to improve oneself. For the Rangers. Only the game fish swim upstream. Yes, it’s quite true, and sometimes we swim against a strong current which threatens to make us give up in despair. But w r c keep on keeping on. Then we come to a bend where the current is not so strong, and our surplus energy comes to our assistance and we push on with new vim, and as we proceed we become strong. We see the goal in sight, and with a wider vision as the result of our experience, we are enabled to grasp our opportunities, and to over-, come the difficulties, and to pass on to others our better understanding of life.
It’s easy to drift as the current flows; It’s easy to move as the deep tide goes; But the answer comes when the breakers crash And strike the soul with a bitter lash —• When the goal ahead is endless fight Through a sunless day and a starless
night Where the far call breaks on the sleeper's dream, ‘‘Only the game fish swim upstream."
Brownies! I hope that you have not forgotten about that beauty quest, and that you have discovered some very wonderful things lately. I shall be calling on you next Tuesday, so I hope that you will be able to tell me all about the quest. Guide News (By Magic River). The Rangers and Guides, together with the Boy Scouts and Cubs, will attend Divine Parade on Sunday at the Anglican Church. Kohn. Cup Results.
