DRAINAGE BOARD

UPPER MANGAPIKO MEETING. > BALANCE OF LOAN MONEY. At a meeting of the Upper Mangapiko Drainage Board the members present were Messrs. E. B. Cox (chairman), Captain J. W. Peake. Noel Peake, H. Q. Bertelsen, and G. W. Park. jThe offer of the Tua Tua Mo ana 4|*iuage Board to pay half the cost of and maintain the same for five years was accepted with thanks. It was decided that the rate roll for the year ending on March 31st, 1918, be signed as correct. The rate will total £296. Mr. H. Roche, engineer, presented his report on Messrs. Mather's, Cox's, Kemp's and Peake's outfall drains. It was resolved that, the small drain from the Mangapiko Creek between the properties of Messrs. Jenkins and Cox, terminating, at the confiscation line, be taken over by the also that the drain\between the properties of Messrs j Solomon and Cox, crossing the Mauga- « piko Deviation Road, about 15 chains, to connect with Captain Peake's property, be taken over by the board. It was decided that the balance of the loan be allocated as follows ; (1) Lake drain £2O, (2) creek £4O, (3) , Peake's drain £lO. gf lt was resolved that Mr. Mathers be informed that there is little or no chance of securing a loan at the present time for the outlet from his property, and that he be recommended to take some other means to secure the outlet. The board decided to undertake to supervise the work on Kemp's drain, provided the work is done by the adjoining owners free of cost to the “board. . Messrs.
