N.Z. DAIRY ASSOCIATION
PAYMENT FOR JANUARY BUTTER-FAT. The following circular has been issued to creamery managers:— The directors deferred fixing the rate of advance as long as possible with a view to paying out as much as circumstances would justify. The matter was carefully considered at the directors' meeting on Friday last. The markets both in England and America are ruling lower than | they did some weeks since; there >s, i however.an expectation that they will show some recovery, and therefore the directors decided to advance on January butter-fat at the same rale as obtained during the preceding month. The directors have arranged to meet again early next month when the prospects will be further reviewed and the advance rate fixed for tho present month's supply of butter-fat. Personally, I hope that it will be possible to maintain the same rate of advance, although it is not a matter of great importance, as the shareholders will finally receive all that is earned by the operations of the company. Meanwhile, our rate of advance has generally been higher than the payment made by our principal competitors.
