North Island Egg-laying Competition.
The second week of the competition at Cambridge was concluded on Friday, the 17th instant. The following particuars are supplied by Mr A. B. Trythall, secretary and manager to the competition : Eggs laid during the week, 372. Highest layings for the week: j K. W. K. Fairclough, Hamilton, black Orpingtons, 26. F. C. Hand, Hamilton, white Leghorns, 25. t K. W. K. Fairclough, Hamilton, white Orpingtons, 20. W. Ferguson, Birkenhead, Silver Wyondottes, 17. G. R. Hutchinson, Auckland, Partridge Wyandottes, 16, K Miss Blackmore, Cambridge, white Leghorns, 15. leading pens to date are: K. W. K. Fairclough, Hamilton, black Orpingtons, 69. F. C. Hand, Hamilton, white Leghorns, 54. : W. Ferguson, Birkenhead, Silver Wyandottes, 41. K. W. K. Fairclough, Hamilton, white Orpingtons, 40. Miss Blackmox-e, Cambridge, white Leghorns, 34. Jack Sanderson, Onehunga, white Leghorns, 32. Mrs Linzcy, Cambridge, black Orpingtons, 31. i G. R. Hutchinson, Auckland, Partridge Wyandottes, 31. Woodhouse and Marrincr, Mangere, Silver Wyandottes, 30. Columbia Poultry Ranch, Auckland, white Leghorns, 30. The weather was favourable on the whole during the week, but heavy frosts occurred on some nights. The daily total of eggs is steadily on the increase, and a good few pullets have made a start since the px-evious results were published. The total number of eggs laid since Ist May is 782.
