Wotlces. u Nauseating, Splitting Headaches.” Tha Case of Mrs. C. Y/OODWARD. (By eur Special.) Following upon the cold winter season in Auckland the summer heat proves very trying to many of the inhabitants of the beautiful city, where Mrs. Christina Woodward’s residence is situated in Eden Terrace, New North Road, Auckland. A reporter interviewed this lady some time ago, and the investigations made are well worth repeating. “I have heard that you were once a sufferer from a serious ailment, Mrs. Woodward ?” “You are quite correct. I was indeed in a very bad state of health for fully six months. I have had a large share of trouble and adversity in my time, and I am naturally a great one to worry. My health broke down completely, and I became a victim to terrible nervous weaknesses and depression of spirits. For months I felt myself geting more listless and dull every day, and then dreadful headaches attacked me, together with aching pains in the limbs and back. My skin was hot and dry, as though all healthy substances had been drained out of me. I was always longing for a drink of water, but I could not quench my feverish thirst, no matter how much of it I drank.” “Were you able to eat?” "Very little. My appetite was doubtful and uncertain for a long time. Some days I could pick a little at my food in a mincing, half-hearted fashion, but you would be surprised at the agonising pains I endured afterwards. I felt severe attacks in the side and chest, as well as great discomfort and torture in the stomach after eating. If I only took a mouthful the agony was just as great, so I soon left off eating much. Besides I was never hungry, so there was no necessity to give myself unnecessary torment. My face was as white as death, with tie exception of my eyes, which were i ery dull, with dark lines under them. I dwindled away to a shadow, getting thinner and thinner every day. My weakness became so extreme that I could not walk even a few yards without feeling faint and exhausted, so I had to neglect a good deal of my housework. I was slowly sinking into a state of helplessness, and I was considerably harassed by foolish fears of trouble ahead. Continually fretting over my illness made matters worse, increasing, as it did, my state of fearful nervousness to such a degree that I dare not remain alone in the house. I was always tired and hmguid, without the least inclination to engage in conversation with neighbors or friends. In the morning my tongue was furred and swollen, and a sour taste was in my mouth the whole day.- At night I could not sleep, feeling too restless and worried to settle myself down, and had it not been for my domestic responsibilities I would not have cared what happened. My head troubles got worse and worse, and the rumbling noises that ran through it making slumber all the more remote.” “What did your doctor do for you ?” “Absolutely nothing of a beneficial character. His medicines made mo sick every time I took a dose ; but he did not prescribe anything to restore my health, ft was this fact which made mo so melancholy and despondent. My heart palpitated with great violence whenever 1 moved about, but I have since found out that the wind in my stomach was the origin of this cause of anxiety, although at the time I feared death would carry mo away." “Did you try any medicine other than your doctor’s ?” “Yes, a groat number; but they were no'good. My sufferings were unabated till I took a friend’s advice, and started on Clements Tonic, and then my ailments were quickly under control. My nerves soon calmed down under the soothing influence of Clements Tonic, which drove my body and stomach pains away, when t had only taken two bottles. The nauseating, splitting headaches which had made my life a burden were also cured by Clements Tonic, and I could soon eat liberally without pain or discomfort. Strength and vitality, weight and colour, came back through Clements Tonic, and ray health has been perfect over since. To benefit others you may publish these facts in any way you like."
