SUBURBAN COMMITTEES
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I do not know whose idea it was to set up the Claudelands Committee, but it certainly was a capital move and one that could well be copied I y other centres. The pertinacious advocacy of needed reforms and works by a small body of men duly commissioned by their fellow-reaidents to look after the interests of their district cannot fail to have a beneficial effect, for it is only by keeping matters well to the front that they will receive any attention from the authorities. 1 suggest that the Frankton residents follow the lead of their neighbours across the river: Call a public meeting to ventilate their several requirements and appoint a small committee of enthusiasts duly commissioned to agitate until they attain their ends. The committee could be appointed annually, with a little new blood each year to keep up the enthusiasm. Iu order to meet any small outlay incurred the residents should be invited to contribute, say, from Gd to Is each per annum ; they would f»et » fi°od return for the expenditure.—.—l am, etc., Nimrod. Frankton, May 16, 1903.
