BIBLE READING IN SCHOOLS.
A ROMAN CATHOLIC OPINION. [united pbbss association.] (bv electric telegraph. COPYRIGHT). (Received October S, 1.12 a.m). Melbourne, October 7. Archbishop Caek, iu tbe course of a sermon at St. Patrick's, opposed the recommendation of the religious commission on Bible reading in schools. He could only now hope that suitable lessons could be drawn up by a heteroceueous commission for Catholic and non-Catholic children. The lessons proposed were as Protestant as possible suggested for proselytising purposes. Therefore the Archbishop urged that they should uqt be subjected to a new and grievous oppression.
