BRADBURY TROPHY.
(Continued from page 4.) Mr. J. Hunter, the official starter, sent off the runners from the Park gates, and until the stock yards in Columba Road were reached, they were very bunched. Crossing the bridge to turn into the paddocks, following the river, Talbot (M.) had a small lead on W. McDonald (K.) and a bunch of his mates, the next Masterton man being L. Hack with D. Talbot following closely. Coming out of the paddocks again, and crossing Columba Road near the hockey grounds, Talbot had increased his lead by about 20 yards from W. McDonald, who was followed by Greeks (K.), A. McDonald (K.), Burns (K.), D. Talbot (M.), and L. Hack (M.). There were distances of only a few feet separating the next six men, consisting of three Kiatere and three Masterton men respectively, and all teaming well. After running through the Park into Jean Street for the second lap, Talbot had a lead of 100 yards on McDonald, and the positions were not greatly changed although D. Talbot had moved up a place, and Hack had dropped back a man. R. Shaw (M.) was running well, and J. Mulvey and P. Barrer (M.) were supporting him. Separating D. Talbot and Hack, four Kiatere men were gamely holding their position. Entering the hockey grounds nearing the finish Hack was right back, and the Talbot brothers were the only Masterton men in the first ten with Shaw, Hack, Barrer, Mulvey and Hatch making up the next bunch. The results were:— C. Talbot (M.) 36.11, 1; W. McDonald (K.) 36.54, 2; A. McDonald (K.) 37, 3; D. Talbot (M.) 37.34, 4; W. Burgess (K.) 37.38, 5; R. Greeks (K.) 38.8, 6; A. Burns (K.) 38.39, 7; G. Strong (K.) 38.45, 8; W. Burns (K.) 38.49, 9; M. Quayle (K.) 39.40, 10; R. Shaw (M.) 39.14, 11; L. Hack (M.) 39.31, 12; P. Barrer (M.) 39.42, 13; R. Hatch (M.) 39.43, 14; J. Mulvey (M.) 39.44, 15; R. Searancke (K) 39.59, 16; O. Gaskin (K.) 40.31, 17; J. Warham (M.) 40.47, 18. The points were Kiatere 50, Masterton 88. > The sealed handicap run in conjunction with the race for Masterton members resulted:—A. Talbot (2.20), 1; J. Warham (4.45), 2; C. Talbot (scr.), 3.
