COURSING.
WAIRARAPA CLUB MEETING. The Wairarapa Coursing dub held its sixth meeting of the present season at the Akura Enclosure on Saturday, when two events were decided, an open stake for the Ryan trophy and a novice stake for the Vincent trophy. The sport was of a most interesting nature, and provided some splendid finishes. The meeting was excellently managed, and was one of the best ever held in the Wairarapa. The results were as follow:— Open Stake (for J. Ryan’s trophy): —First round: A. Monk’s Rose Pink, 6 points, beat Archer Bros.’ Slippery, 1 point. J. Wing’s Why Hurry, 2J points, beat H. Duley’s Rereatu, A point. L. H. Jones’s Silver Veil, 4| points, beat C. Erickson’s Our Aggie, nil. C. Erickson’s Piiketoi Magic, 3 points, beat L. Fulton’s Little Wonder, nil. Second round: Why Hurry, 5 points, beat Rose Pink, 1 point. Puketoi Magic, 2A points, beat Silver Veil, A point. Final: Why Hurry, 2} points, beat Puketoi Magic, 1 point. Novice Stakes (for the Vincent Cup):—First round: J. Wilkins’s Diabolo, 3 points, beat T. Ryan’s (Dannevirke) Paddy, 1 point. Mrs. L. H. .Tones’ Gay Laddie, 7 points, beat W. L. Jensen’s Silver Briar, 1 point. J. H. Mills’s (Dannevirke) Flip, 64 points, beat Archer Bros.’ Dark Shadow, 4A points. Second round: Diabolo, points, beat Gay Laddie, nil. Flip, a bye. Final: Diabolo, 5A points, beat Flip, nil. An invitation has been extended to Masterton greyhound owners to visit Dannevirke at the week-end when the Dannevirke Club will hold a tin-hare meeting. A number of Masterton dogs will make the trip.
