Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a-m. July 25: —Barograph, 30.07; shade temperature, maximum, 37.7; minimum, 42.4; terrestrial, 38.9; sunshine, nil; rain, 2 points. July 26: Barograph, 30.21; shade temperature, maximum, 49; minimum, 35; terrestrial, 26.9; frost, 3.5 degrees; sunshine, 1 hour 21 minutes; rain, a trace.
The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kittson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—Pressure is still rather low over the North Island and high to the south, but an anti-cyclone over the Tasman Sea has decreased in intensity. A cyclone is centred over SouthEastern Australia. Forecast: Winds, moderate south-east to southerly. Weather: Still cloudy to overcast, and in places misty, in eastern districts, with showers or drizzling rain in many places, but improving gradually except in the north-eastern portion of the North Island. Fair to fine elsewhere. Temperatures cold.
