WRESTLING.
BLOMFIELD DISQUALIFIED. WELLINGTON, May 25. To a mixed and excited chorus of hoots and cheers “Lofty” Blomfield, New Zealand, was disqualified in a wrestling bout with Paul Boesch, America, at the Wellington Town Hall to-night. In the seventh round Blomfield clapped on his octopus clamp when both men were near the ropes. Boesch conceded a submission fall almost immediately and Blomfield was disqualified by the referee for not making an effort to break the hold. Boesch had won a fall in the third round with a body press, following several drop-kicks, two of which were delivered with amazing speed from a standing start and hit Blomfield on the point of the jaw and thoroughly dazed him. The bout was one of the best of the season.—(P.A.)
