SUCCESSFUL BALL

WANGANUI COLLEGE OLD BOYS’ ASSOCIATION. GATHERING IN MUNICIPAL HALL. DANCERS FROM ALL PARTS OF DISTRICT. One of the most notable social events of the year, the annual ball of the Wanganui College Old Boys’ Association, Wairarapa branch, was held last night in the Masterton Municipal Hall. The hall was crowded to capacity with dancers from all parts of the Wairarapa and surrounding districts. Organised on an elaborate scale, the ball proved highly successful and enjoyable. The decorative scheme was at ance charming and novel. An artistically decorated dais for the orchestra was arranged in the centre of the hall. Prettily coloured lights were entwined in the flowers and greenery, while on top of the dais was a complete model of the college buildings and chapel. The model was the work of Mr. Joe Payton, who was responsible for the whole of the decorative scheme. The college colours were a dominant feature of the decorations. Excellent music was provided by the Blue River Danee Band and the Novelty Syncopators Orchestra An elaborate buffet supper was served. The secretary, Mr. M. Sellar, had all the arrangements well in hand and was responsible for much of the success of the ball. The ball committee was as follows:—Messrs R. F. R. Beetham, D. H. S. Riddiford, W. B. Martin, H.
