OBITUARY.
MRS E. J. MACE. The death occurred early yesterday morning at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Hutchison, Hobson Street, Wellington, of Mrs Emma J. Mace, widow of the late Mr. Walter W. Mace. The late Mrs Mace had not enjoyed the best of health for some considerable time, and was spending a holiday with her daughter, where she became ill a few days ago. She was a daughter of the late Mr. Joseph Bennett by his first wife, (nee Miss Donald, the third daughter of Mr. Donald, of Manaia). Mrs Mace had resided in Masterton for the greater part of her life, where she made a large 'number of friends by her kindly and generous disposition. She is survived by a son, Mr. Roy Mace, Brammerton, and two daughters, Mrs S. Hutchison, Wellington and Mrs C. E. Isbister, Palmerston North. Another son, Mr. Guy Mace, was killed in the Great War. Mr. C. J. Bennett, Otahuao, is a halfbrother of the late Mrs Mace, Mrs Waddy, Marlborough, Mrs H. F. Coom, Mrs Archer Hosking and Mrs H. W.’ Rishworth, of Masterton, being halfsisters. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to the relatives in their sad Bereavement. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the residence, “Te Kowhai, ” The Terrace, Lansdowne, at 2.45 p.m. for St. Matthew’s Church, thence to the Masterton Cemetery.
MRS. N. E. WINHALL. The many friends of the Rev. N .E. Winhall, Vicar of Pahautanui, will learn with the deepest regret of the death of his wife, which occurred suddenly in Wellington early yesterday afternoon, at the age of 32 years. The late Mrs. Winhall is survived by her husband and daughter, Alison, and also by her mother, Mrs. C. Hyde and a brother, the Rev. C. Hyde, of Puketapu, Hawke's Bay. Mr. Winhall'is a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Winhall, of Tararua Street, Masterton, and' is very well known here. The sympathy of a large number of friends wifi be extended to the bereaved relatives in their great and sudden loss. The funeral will take place at Pahautanui on Monday at 3 p.m.
MR. JOHN HENNESSY. After a short illness, the death occurred at the Masterton Hospital yesterday afternoon of Mr. John Hennessy, an old and highly respected resident, at the age of 86 years. The late Mr. Hennessy, who was born in Ireland, had spent a great part of his life in this district and at one time was engaged in contracting work. For many years past he had lived in retirement in Masterton. He never married and his only relative in New Zealand is a nephew residing in Canterbury. The funeral will take place to-mor-row, leaving Bt. Patrick’s Church at 2.45 p.m. for the Masterton Cemetery. A VETERAN ACTRESS. (Received Friday, 7.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, May 21. Obituary: Minnie Palmer, aged 76, a veteran actress on the British and American stage.
